Some Moments

I'm having a long weekend. It's a good thing. It means I can sleep in longer instead of getting up at 4AM. And moments like these are precious.
It also means that I can do nothing or focus on things that seem unimportant.

Change of Plan... It's time to go Home

Who loves change? Who cannot deal with change? What do you do when you are faced with change? Is change good or bad?

Change is unbeatable. It's the most consistent thing in this world and in bloggosphere. And there is only one thing you can do to deal with it whether you like it or not - embrace it!
Everything's coming up roses today.

Yup, As you all know by now, I been through a lot of changes here. Things that somehow brought a little chaos in "this tool box" of mine. And yes, I am referring to my other blog Ruthi's breathingSpace which recently lost its domain because [auto-renew alert!]... you already guess it right, huh? But here is where "change' is coming. Are you ready for it?

I GOT MY RBS's DOMAIN BACK!

Oh Yeah, I am dancing in my smarty pants now.! Oh yeah, I am so happy right now! Oh yeah, RBS's Blog Series are so moving back now!LOL

Oh I feel awesome! I can't describe my happiness in just 2 words I had to blog about it. And yes, Auto-renew... this one is for you - boooyah!

Yes, I was able to figure out what to do with RBS and it is now back on bloggosphere from a short hiatus. And there is no one happier than this momma. So check it out HERE and you will know what I am talking about.

Thanks a lot ACWTB for babysitting RBS for awhile. It was indeed a great vacation. Now it's time to go home.

I don't have an "alibi"

Yes, I have been in hiatus for[ever]. Yes, I took an indefinite absence from blogging. And yes, I have no alibis!

Working 12 hours a day is not an alibi since I can play "Words with Friends" till 10 or 11 PM every night. Training for a race is not an alibi since I rarely run to train. And busy doing with chores is definitely not an alibi since I got tons of things to do around the house.

So what is the reason why I have not been blogging for more more than a couple of months now? Good question!

I have none!

Being lazy is not an alibi either... it's in my DNA! [lol]

But I'm back but don't count on it because it is only an "alibi". [hahahaha]

Miss you all.

Hurricanes, Phone booths, and Facebook

I'm on vacation right now. After 5 years of being away from home. I finally got the chance to go back and visit my homeland. It was a little emotional but manageable. I was spared of all the drama due to some travel problems like flight cancellations, delays, phone booths, hurricanes, and facebook.
I supposed to leave on the 25th of June but my flight was delayed due to hurricane. Hubby brought me to the airport at about 9 am for my 12:45pm flight but it was delayed to 2:45pm due to hurricane. But since my  connecting flight to Hong Kong was at 3:45pm from Newark Airport, I had to ask for a change of flight schedule for the next day because there is no way I can make it on time.

So there I was stuck in the airport just 18 miles away from home. The next problem occurred when I realized there are no longer "phone booths" anywhere in the airport. Yes, phone booth is now a thing of the past. It's already extinct! I left my phone in the truck and there is no way I could call hubby to ask me to pick me up. A couple of people offered to use their phones but Hubby left his phone in the truck too. So there was no way to contact him or get hold of him until he got hold of his phone. hayyyy

Good thing I had my kindle fire with me and the only thing I can do is to go on facebook to shout "help" as my status on the wall. Soon enough help came. But I was already home cozily tucked in in bed when Hubby got the messages from different people I came across at FB who knew that I was stuck in the airport.

Memorial Weekend

Happy Memorial Weekend, everyone. Hay, I know... I know. It's been a long time since I last posted anything substantial or worth-reading here. It's hormonal this time. hahahaha

Well, you got to blame somebody but yourself. Yes, I am having some hormonal attacks lately. Yes, aging is inevitable. And yes, I can't stop it no matter how hard I tried.

So, life goes on here in my part of the world in northern New England despite the unpredictable weather. And just to give update on my current whereabouts [pretend that I have a fan base who cares about that, lol] I am cooking up something. I will not give a hint because eventually the whole web wide world will take notice.

So for now, I just type a quick "the-big-brown-fox-jumps-over-the-lazy-dog" to test my new keyboard. Happy Memorial Day, guys and yes, go easy on the bbq and the chips.

Yes, Virginia... there is gold in the river!

So I whine about gold panning.

I rant about the bugs in the woods.

And I hum about almost everything about camping.

So why do I go anyway? Why do I go up the mountain almost every other weekends?

Because there is indeed gold in the river!

on keeping safe

I had a not so good day today despite the balmy weather. It was in the high 60s. The clear blue sky was an indication of a warmer day compared to the past few days. The warm breeze was soothing to the soul. And the cheerful laughters of the kids that filled the playground seemed like music to my ear. It was almost a perfect day until one of the kids under my care hit his head hard on the monkey bar pole and passed out on the ground for few seconds.

I was freaking out but I need to contain myself because emergency calls for it. I am trained and certified in First Aid and CPR but whatever I learned from the training seemed to go down the drain. I thought I was going to pass out myself. But no... I need to be strong because the kid had an accident under my watch. Good thing that I was able to remember the first few basic things to do when faced with such incident. I was able to contained myself and kept the kid conscious until the 911 call was placed... the school nurse arrived and the ambulance responded. In less than 30 minutes me and my staff were tailgating the ambulance on Route 202 on our way to the hospital.

Of all places... we thought that the playground is the safest place for the kids to play. But no... a lot of accidents happen in the playground. And yes... when there are kids involved... accidents do happen not only in the playground. That is why I never go anywhere without my first aid kit when with kids at work. And good think I never go anywhere without my presence of mind. It saves me from worse case scenario.

A place called [safer] home

Our home is a safe place on earth.

It is not just a place where we live but a place where “love” lives. It is not just a place where we go to and rest after a long hard day but a place where we always look forward to be with our loved ones. And it is not simply a place but a respite that will always have happy and unforgettable memories.

Our home is a safe place on the planet, both figuratively and literally.

There is no safer place like home, figuratively speaking. But to make it literally possible, it’s time for adt home security to protect our homes. And that, I believe is a place called [safer] home.

It Definitely Sucks!

I was up at 4:30 am this morning getting ready for work only to realize there is no work today. School is closed today. Kids are not going to school today. And I have to stay home today. We have another snow storm and the weather people gave warning that it will be a dangerous commute today. That sucks!

I still feel edgy when there is a snow storm. The car accident is still fresh in my mind and even if I am driving an AWD car now, I still feel nervous every time I drive down the road where I had the accident. Well, I know it will take sometime before I totally get over it. And it sucks!

I just got back from the driveway [as of this writing] to scrape the 3 inches snow on my car. The snowfall had stopped tonight but it is still freezing out. I have to scrape the snow on my car now because I don’t want to do it at 5 o’ clock in the morning. I have to scrape the snow on my car because I don’t want it to freeze out and turn into block of ice. Winter really sucks!

Hubby and His Annoying Practices

I had another sleepless night in Maine. Hubby wasn’t able to sleep last night because something was bugging him. We already slept late last night because we watched TV till midnight. I was already snoring the night away for a few minutes when he woke me up. Yes, he woke me up. And yes, it was not the first time he did that. He wakes me up every time he can’t sleep. He wakes me up when something is bothering him. He wakes me up when he can’t wait till morning to tell me things no matter how simple or unimportant they are.

Oh well, Hubby has his ways of doing certain things that really annoy me. And somehow, I am beginning to accept those annoying things as part of what he is. Do I have a choice? No! So why bother whining about it when I know that those annoying things are just the counterpart of some of the annoying things that I myself possess too. Oh yes, Hubby has his counter-attacks every time I would point those annoying things out to him. And he has a point too, that I had to admit.

So what’s the bottom line? Stop whining. Should it be my New Year’s Resolution? Maybe not. Should I get even with him tonight? Maybe yes!

Making sense out of Common Rants and Endless Whines

Here I go again… digging old e-mails to make some sense out of my habitual rants and whines blogs. Apparently, I have noticed that most of my posts here are common rants and endless whines about this and that. And that is the main reason why I succumb to blogging coma lately.

I found this list of “brain damaging habits” that I think is really very simple yet realistic and sensible things that are contributing factors to having poor health. Simple things that I always don't care much about and often over-looked due to bad decisions.

BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS

1. No Breakfast. People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overeating. It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in
mental power.

3. Smoking. It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption. Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.

5. Air Pollution. The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation. Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

7. Head covered while sleeping. Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness. Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts. Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely. Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

I find the list true and sensible. I had to admit, I know all these things and yet I am guilty beyond reasonable doubt that I committed all of them except smoking. I have stopped smoking more 10 years ago. There is no doubt in my mind that these are the very cause of the physical pains that Hubby and I are complaining about for quite a while now. There is no doubt in my mind that I know all these things and yet I never do anything to change the habit that I formed out of my laziness.

Oh well, there are only 3 more weeks left before the year ends and New Year’s Resolution can be a good alibi to start knocking some sense in my senseless bad habits. Maybe then I could reassess my priorities and do something to improve my lifestyle.

Blogging Coma

I’m not in the mood to do anything today. My dirty dishes are sitting comfortably on the sink… still dirty. It’s a normal thing to me, so don’t worry I will manage pretty good, thank you. Lol. This is just one of those moments when my mind is too numbed to think of anything. It could be the weather. It was 17 degrees this morning. It could be the day of the week. It’s Friday and I just love to take things easy… kick back… and relax. It could be the exhaustion from blogging too. I am having a yet another blogging coma.

Blogging coma is a sickness that all bloggers suffer from when you are overloaded with information from browsing and blog hopping. It is a disorder that is common among bloggers whose life’s support system is based on cyber arena. It is a virtual disease plaguing bloggers who are online seeking and finding satisfaction from blogosphere. It is highly contagious too like virus. Good for the computers because they can have antivirus software to keep it running. Too bad, there is no antivirus software for the computer users or bloggers to keep them going.

Blogging coma is a condition. It is a serious condition but not necessarily hopeless. It is contagious but not necessarily fatal. It is common but not necessarily everyone can get infected. It could only be me. Hayyyy!

Good Guy Gone Fishing

We have been watching this particular news for almost the entire week now, about a guy who posted a poll in his store about Obama's assassination. It was reported over and over again in our local news and we still watch it over and over again too. [Read more related news here.]

You see this guy Steve, who according to the news is a racist and posted a poll and a $1 bet on when Obama will be assassinated, and who is now getting national attention and uproar from coast to coast… is from around this place. Yes, he is living in this town where we are living. Yes, we sometimes buy some stuff from his store. And yes, my Hubby knows him for years.

I can’t say much about the guy because I only met him recently. But Hubby said that he is really such a nice guy. He is a nice guy… who made stupid decisions… and now he is doomed. The store is closed indefinitely and he has “gone fishing” [that’s what the message he puts on his door when he closes his store] for a long time. Guess Hubby will have to go to another store when I ask him to make me breakfast.

Laundry Mishap

It’s raining out today. It’s snowing up in the mountain. And it’s licking water in the washer. We got a new front-loader. The old washer died on me a couple of months so we got a new washer. It is a nice washer. It is more expensive though but more efficient and more energy saver. It requires more expensive laundry soap [the HE kinda soap which stands for High Efficiency] but it is more economical because you don’t need a lot to wash a lot of load. It doesn’t need lots of water so our well never runs dry anymore. It is quieter so I usually forget to transfer the washed laundry to the dryer.

This morning, the cellar is flooded in water. The washer is leaking somewhere and I don’t know why. I don’t know where. And I don’t know how. I don’t want to rant about it so I called Hubby from work and told him about it. So for now, I don’t want to deal with the washer nor the laundry. I don't go romancing the laundry no more. The laundry can wait… blogging can’t.

Monday Blues

It’s another Monday. I don’t like Monday. But I love the song … I don’t like Monday. It’s the start of the week and everybody is busy and will be out of the house except me. I made Hubby his favorite breakfast… ham and cheese omelet. Did I tell you that I sealed the deal with my Hubby with my famous “ham and cheese omelet”? Oh well, now you know. Hubby is not a fussy eater so I guess he was just telling me that he fell in love with my omelet to make feel good about my cooking.

It’s another Monday and I still feel sleepy and wanted to stay in bed quite a bit. But I can’t. Hubby has to go to work and Brandon has to go to school. I did my duty as a devoted wife and a good step-mother. When everybody is gone, I went back to the kitchen and fixed myself a breakfast… sat in front of the computer and started blogging. So what else is new?

It’s another Monday and I will be waiting for the weekend day after day. And I will whine about routine until the next Monday again. Life is a breeze, ain’t it?

Marriage by definition

I was in the mood for laughter since yesterday. After all the previous ranting and whining that took-over my otherwise and supposedly good week, I finally decided that I need some “happy thoughts” for a change so that I will surely have a pleasant weekends.

And when I think about “happy thoughts” there is one thing that I usually do. I go to my old e-mails that I kept on my “laughter folder” and read them again so I can have a good laugh.

And here is what I found. I had this email before I got married and totally forgot all about it until now. I read it again and now it all makes sense to me more than the first time I read it because I can very much relate to it now than when I was still single. And of course I want to share these important and funny anecdotes about marriage so you too can have a good happy reflections. Some of you may already read it before or somewhere but still, I believe that you can still have fun reading it.

Here you go and may you have a good laugh.

What is Marriage?

1. Marriage is not a word. It's a sentence (a life sentence).
2. Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blind.
3. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's Degree and the woman gets her Masters.
4. Marriage is a three ring circus: engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering.
5. Married life is full of excitement and frustration: In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the aan listens. In the third year, they both speak and the NEIGHBOURS listen.
6. Getting married is very much like going to a restaurant with friends. You order what you want, and then you see what the other person has, you wish you had ordered that instead.
7. Son: How much does it cost to get married, Dad? Father: I don't know son, I'm still paying for it.
8. Son: Is it true Dad? I heard that in ancient China, a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her. Father: That happens everywhere, son, EVERYWHERE!
9. Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.
10. They say that when a man holds a woman's hand before marriage, it is love; after marriage it is self-defense.
11. When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a 10-year married man looks happy, we wonder why.
12. Eighty percent of married man cheat in America, the rest cheat in Europe.
13. After marriage, husband and wife become two sides of a coin. They just can't face each other, but still they stay together.
14. Before marriage, a man 'yearns' for the woman he loves. After the marriage the "Y" becomes silent.
15. It's not true that married men live longer than single men, it only seems longer.
16. When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing - either the car is new or the wife is.
17. When married is base on trust, friendship, honesty, kindness and comradeship - you will be together until death and the next life in loved.

We sometimes do need some fun or make fun of things to spice them up. Marriage is a work-out and we need to build strong muscles to be able to stay strong and firm. We don't have technical support to operate our husbands but knowing how to handle good or bad situation is a good option. Having some happy thoughts surely do some magic to it.

No More Alibis

My friend was complaining to me about chores. You know housewives… we always complain and we need someone to listen to our complaints because our Hubbies are already numbed by our complaining dispositions and no longer give any reaction… so it is no longer fun complaining that is why we need another person who is equally expert on that department. Hahahaha.

Anyway, she was complaining about football. Sounds familiar? Yes, I can relate to it. She said that she cannot ask her husband or her eldest son to help him with errands or simple things to do around the house. Their alibi – football! They can’t miss any single game or sports news about football. And she was fed up. So she asked my expert opinion on football. My advice… Clear365.com and she did just want I taught her. Now every time that her husband or son will use the word “football” as an alibi to avoid chores or errand… she will say… “Football can wait… I can’t!”

And why not? With just a click of the mouse the Latest Football News can be accessed through Clear365.com. This cool website provides the Latest Sports News and even the College Football Rankings so her husband and her son can no longer use football as an alibi.

With Clear365.com… it's football time, anytime… and no more alibis.

When Will I Stop?

There are times that I am feeling crafty. The only problem with me that I easily lost interest with what ever project I would start. That is why, there are lots of projects that I started that are now accumulating dust somewhere in every nook and cranny of the cellar.

I once got interested in beadings. I made lots of fashion accessories made of beads. I bought a lot of beads and other beading materials thinking that I will come up with a business out of it. Then I realized there are lots of people who are into it and who make better accessories than I do so I stopped.

Then my friends started doing some crocheted stuff and since I know a bit about crochet I also did that. I bought a lot of thread, hooks and patterns and thought of doing lots of stuff for the craft fair. I did finished one project which is a two-piece bathing suit which I gave to my step-daughter as a birthday gift. But then I realized to that my work was not as good as my friend’s so I stopped.

Now, I started doing digital scrapbooking which I learned through blogging and did self-study and experimentation. I bought some software on digital scrapbooking and downloaded more from the internet. I did some little stuff and even started a new blog called scrappy thingy just to publish my finished work. Now, I realized that some people’s works are also better than mine so I stopped.

Oh well, maybe someday I will surely have the burning desire to do something without stopping. And when that time comes, I will not stop until I am done.

My Crowing Glory is Turning Gray

I looked in the mirror just I always do in the morning. I always look in the mirror especially this part of the year when the weather is chilly and when the temperature dives to freezing point. I always look in the mirror to check on my face for possible breakouts or dry spots. My skin is not compatible to cold weather here in Maine. It is always dehydrated and flaky. That is why I need to get artificial help from my handy jars and bottles of moisturizer and body lotion to rehydrate my skin.

This morning I looked in the mirror and I freaked out. I know it is there. It is always there even when I was still in the Philippines. I am very much aware of its presence and there were times that I will make a drastic move to get rid of it. I would succeed but eventually after sometime it will be back… with vengeance!

This morning I looked in the mirror and to my horror, it is not alone. Now there are two of them sticking out so proudly side by side. But wait… there are more on the other side too. Yes, more on the other side and they are more prominent.

This morning I looked in the mirror and I have to accept the fact that my hair is turning gray. There is not much I can do now but to think of a nice shade of color that will match the shade of my eyes. I’m gonna have my hair dyed.

Someone on Your Side

I am new in this country. And so far I have very little knowledge of my rights as a citizen. I am still considered as an “Alien” which they refer to as an “immigrant” from another country. And in that case, I surely have limited rights. However, I know that I do have rights as a human being even if I am not a yet a US citizen.

So when it comes to law and order, I guess the old cliché “ignorance of the law excuses no one” is meant to tell people to know their rights. Most of the time people can fall victims of wrong accusations simply because other people can take advantage of them. Therefore, you should know your rights no matter how simple they are because it will surely save you from making big mistakes. And if you commit a crime as simple as speeding ticket, you should talk to a professional who knows how to handle your case and what options available to you.

And when it comes to rights, crimes and options, WilliamFay.com is just a click away. The Law Offices of William Fay is well-known for its felony attorney Raleigh and criminal defense Raleigh because they have the best people in the job. They have represented thousands of clients in DUI, DWI, Traffic Tickets and Criminal Defense. And for immigrants like me also handledcases on Immigration Law Raleigh and helped a lot of immigrants who otherwise have limited knowledge of their rights.

So don’t be innocent. Know your rights. Know someone who can help you fight for your rights. And with William Fay, you know you have someone on your side.
