I could have written a more dramatic introduction to this post but I can't think of any other way to put words together to express my joy in achieving my seems-to-be-impossible goal. Summer is definitely doing a lot of tricks to my brain lately. Or maybe it was because I have been slacking in the blogging department for a long time and my blog-hiatus state of mind put my brain on freeze-mode. But this is not my excuse. In fact I have no excuse. I just don't feel like blogging - Period! (And that goes for my 5 other blogs that are suffering from blog-drought, as well.) To say the least, I have nothing to say about the famous lighthouse because this post is not really about the lighthouse. This is about me!

Why I want to RUN to the Lighthouse
The Portland Head Light in Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth is one of Maine's most important landmarks. To Mainers... it is the "beacon of light" that contributed to Maine's rich maritime history. To tourists... it is a must-see place in Maine. And to me... it is all of the above and much more. It is where I pledged my love and devotion to my Sweetest - Mike.

A Day in Boston
Boston, Massachusetts is just a couple of hours away from Maine. However, it's not very often that I get the chance to visit it. I can come up with 2 reasons - traffic and traffic.
It's a good thing that I have a friend who loves to drive and doesn't really mind traffic. Well, not as much as I do.

I am a Horrible Fan!
Yes, you read that right... I am a horrible fan!
I stopped watching the Super Bowl right after the halftime show simply because I don't want to experience the pain I experienced during the first 2 Super Bowls where the Patriots lost to the Giants. Trust me I was devastated and bawling when they lost to Giants 2 times in a row.
This time I was quite sure I jinxed the games so I decided to watched Criminal Minds reruns instead. Boy, I was happy to hear it from the 11pm News that the Patriots won. I may not experienced the excitement watching the game but I surely spared myself dying of heart attack last night.

How I rocked and rolled in 2014
Year 2014 was packed with great experiences and happy memories. Too bad I wasn't able to document each important event because I was too busy with a lot of things. Yeah, I know that is an understatement. But would you believe if I tell you that most of the important things I had last year are kept in my heart? Cliche!!!
Anyway, here are the highlights of 2014 in no particular order.
1. Races. I have done only a few. Unlike in the past couple of years where I tried to run 2 races a month, last year I did only 8 races compared to 13 races in 2012. It was 1 race shy of what I did in 2013 though. As I have said I have no time to document some important events so I have not blogged any of those races so no PR comparison. However, I was able to take photos of my bib so I'm sharing them here.
I started the year with a 5K last year. It was my 2nd start-of-the-year-race (with Buffet, wink*)

Filipino Forever
When I left My Philippines in 2007, my connection with my Filipino friends and family have been limited in more ways than one.
Living in Maine for over 7 years now, I somehow learned how to downsize and that includes my circle of friends. I'm not saying this in a bad way. In fact, I love it. Having just a couple of Filipino friends who I can call and visit anytime I'm having serious Filipino food cravings makes my life simple and uncomplicated.

Camping with Fam Bam
The weather last weekend was really gorgeous so we took advantage of it. We spent it at Byron again. This time B joined us. Though it took a little convincing because B also knows that camping with Daddy means gold panning which means he will be bored all day waiting for him to be done with his thingy in the river. LOL
Our accommodation for the night.

Comfort Food - Recycled!
I'm cheap because I don't want to waste food. I don't want to throw out left-over food specially if they are still good and got lots of potential. "Potential" in food for me means recyclable. Well, it doesn't sound yummy, does it? Just read the whole post HERE. Now, I'm hungry again! LOL

Rockin' and Rollin' in Maine
My brother's short visit in Maine is by far the most memorable moment in my life here in Maine. It was memorable in many ways because I was able to do a lot of things for the first time.
Living in Maine for over 7 years now doesn't mean that I know everything about Maine and that I do a lot of things and activities that Mainers do.

49 is the NEW 29
Time flies so quickly. I was a little preoccupied for the past couple of days with work and I totally forgot that my special day was coming. Yeah, I was having a little Alzheimer mode lately.
So, I turned 29th a couple of days ago. There was no big celebration. It just so happened that there was no school that Friday so it felt really special that my birthday seemed like a holiday. But my Sweetest has to work.

My kind of Frozen
My supposedly second race for January 11th was cancelled due to an ice storm. And since the road condition was not safe they postponed it to February 15th. But here's the thing, I realized that I already signed up for a race in February and it was scheduled on the 16th. So I have 2 races for 2 days in a row that I need to deal with. Great!
Well, that February 16th race didn't happen. My brother who was flying in from Los Angeles didn't make it on the 15th due to flight cancellation. I supposed to run with him on the 16th so since he didn't make it, I didn't make it to the race. Fair enough? No, it's an alibi. LOL
There I was at the back with a green circle.

The Eagle has landed
After 24 hours of waiting and worrying about my brother in cold Chicago, he finally arrived in Maine. The aircraft touched-down a couple of minutes earlier so it only took me about 5 minutes of waiting in the airport
We left the house a little late actually but got in the airport just in time when a plane flew above us as we traversed the airport road.

5 reasons to choose an above ground pool for your family
There are many pools that you can choose from, but the best one for your family would have to be the above ground pool. Not only are these pools safer and easier to maintain, but they are also cheaper and easier to install. They typically aren’t as big as in-ground pools, but that is often an advantage for many families. Above ground pools offer you the perfect balance when it comes to fun and practicality.
Lower Costs
A good above ground pool is going to cost you several thousand dollars. That’s much more than an inflatable pool, but it’s less than half the price of an in-ground pool. The majority of in-ground pools cost tens of thousands of dollars, which is often too much for the average family.

Ice, Ice, Baby!
I supposed to run today. I signed up for another 5K which is scheduled for today. But alas, it was raining ice pellets here in my neck of the woods. So the organizers postponed it for next month. Grrrr!
I can't blame them, the road is icy. Everything is icy. And just to let you see what we are dealing with, here are some photos I took this week.

Thank God it's Saturday!
1. Sleeping in. I wake up 4 in the morning every day to go to work. But on Saturday, I still wake up at 4 AM still but not to go to work but to the bathroom. LOL. Then I would go back to bed and sleep in. And when I wake up, I don't need to change. I can stay in my PJs and browse on Groupons to look for discounts or play candy crush or some other thing that I don't usually do on work days.

Bridal Shower Party Favor
Steph's Bridal Shower was not a disappointment considering the effort that her sister and Mom put into it. We did surprise her.
The food was delishhhhh and the party was small but intimate. I cannot take credit for anything but the candy bar. Which to tell you the truth, was a practice for my "real" candy bar for the wedding.

Feeling Pretty
I'm doing some kind of makeover in my other blog right now. I was thinking I need to share something I love doing with my friends and readers out there.
This makeover thingy is not actually an original idea that I came up with. In fact I read a lot of blogs and pinned a lot of "before and after" photos in Pinterest on how to do a makeover. And I learned a lot from them so I am sharing that kind of learning in my own blog series too.
No, I am not running out of ideas for blogging. (I am bluffing. LOL) I just want to have something that I can go back to to remind me how to do things when I am in Alzheimer's mode. LOL.
Guess I need to learn how to do my hair too. What do you think? LOL

The Biggest Pricing Mistakes Jewellery Designers Make
Making a living as a jewellery designer is pretty sweet. It’s wonderful to be able to spend your time making something unique and beautiful with your own creativity and then sell it to others who will wear it with pride. Jewellery design is an exciting way to express yourself while earning a living.
However, a jewellery design must not only focus on the creative side of things but also on the cold hard business side as well. In order to successfully make a living as a jewellery maker, he or she must be able to understand the concepts of marketing, pricing, budgeting and sales. No matter how beautiful and creative the jewellery designs are, they will not be sold if they are not priced and marketed effectively.
One of the most difficult aspects of this is determining how to price your jewellery creations. Many jewellers struggle with this, because to them their unique works of art are priceless. However, when it comes down to marketing and sales the jewellery is only worth what the customer will pay for it. The jewellery designer needs to come up with a price that strikes a perfect balance between being profitable enough for them while also being affordable enough for the customer.
Unfortunately, many jewellery designers make mistakes when they first try to figure out the pricing of their creations. Here are some of the common mistakes that many designers make so that you can avoid making the same errors yourself.
Also, sometimes jewellery sellers will price too low as well for emotional reasons. Perhaps they are afraid that their work won’t sell or nervous about the reactions of customers. However, undervaluing your work will not help you at all. Approach pricing in a logical way so that you can get paid fairly for the designs you make.
The book will include a list of all materials that go into the making of a specific piece of jewellery. For example, you might make a series of beaded bracelets that contain 28 small beads and 12 medium sized ones. Write this down, as well as the prices of the beads. If you know that a small bead is worth 3p each and a large bead is worth 5p, you will be able to calculate your material cost for the bracelet. Don’t forget to add in things such as the clasp, wire and any other parts.
Keep track of the time you spend designing and remember that increasing your speed will increase your profitability, so see if you can perform the process more efficiently.
You might be thinking that putting your prices on your products will “scare away” customers, but the truth is that being honest about the price will only deter people who would not have made a purchase anyway. If someone is interested in your jewellery and will buy it at the price you offer them, they shouldn’t have to be a detective to figure out what that price is.
These are just a few of the major pricing mistakes that many jewellery designers make and how you can avoid them yourself.

Unfortunately, many jewellery designers make mistakes when they first try to figure out the pricing of their creations. Here are some of the common mistakes that many designers make so that you can avoid making the same errors yourself.
Making Prices Emotional Rather Than Mathematical
Jewellery can have a lot of sentimental meaning and sometimes jewellers will get so attached to their creations that they will value them a lot higher than what a customer would pay. Perhaps you absolutely love your one-of-a-kind creations, but it’s important to remember that pricing them is a mathematical calculation. Take a step back from things and look at them rationally. If you really love a particular piece that you don’t want to sell it at any price you can always keep it for yourself.
Not Keeping Track of Materials and Labour
When you started out creating jewellery, you probably didn’t keep track of the beads, string, metal, wire, glass and other materials that you were buying on a regular basis. However, understanding how much you spend on materials is very important when determining the price of the jewellery. This is why you should create a “recipe book” for each one of your jewellery designs.
Not Tracking Your Time Spent on Designing Jewellery
Your price is also based on the time you spend making the jewellery, so spending hours working on putting together a necklace without keeping track of your time is a mistake. You might price the necklace too low, then make your calculations later and then realise you are getting paid less than minimum wage.Keep track of the time you spend designing and remember that increasing your speed will increase your profitability, so see if you can perform the process more efficiently.
Not Being Clear About Your Prices
It is odd when you see jewellery for sale but the price is not shown, whether online or in a shop and the prices are not apparent. If I have to ask the seller what the price of a piece of jewellery is, I probably will be less likely to buy it.You might be thinking that putting your prices on your products will “scare away” customers, but the truth is that being honest about the price will only deter people who would not have made a purchase anyway. If someone is interested in your jewellery and will buy it at the price you offer them, they shouldn’t have to be a detective to figure out what that price is.

Getting Ready for Hunting Season
Last weekend, I was enjoying my regular Saturday breakfast-in-bed while watching Good Morning America while my Sweetest was multi-tasking... eating breakfast, watching TV and searching online. Apparently, we was trying to get a hunting license.
Oh yeah, it's deer hunting season again. It's the most awaited season for almost all men here in Maine. Well, I already anticipate it that's why the last time I went shopping at Sam's Club, I got him a pair of camouflage base layer tops and bottom. See, I don't usually shop for myself. I love shopping for my loved ones too. wink*
Since it is Fall and Maine's weather is kinda cruel, having the right outfit helps. Well, I'm not really too crazy about hunting but since I cannot do anything about it because it's his favorite sports so I might as well accept it. Besides I want my Saturday breakfast-in-bed so much so I don't want to jeopardize that. wink*
The pair of camo was a steal. I paid $11.95 for the tops and same price for the bottom. It's made of microfiber materials so it is good for moisture absorption and quick drying too. He was happy as a kid in a candy store when I gave them to him.
