You got that right!
I know. I know.
This is probably the Nth time I am going to reconstruct, revise, redesign, redo this blog and rethink if I want to continue blogging again.
I have no alibi. And I wasn't in hibernation mode either. I just lost the passion in blogging.
Probably, I reached the point when I feel that I don't want to do anything at all. Or maybe, I'm getting old.

Silvery Trees
I'm a horrible person. Oh, let me re-phrase it. I'm a horrible person! LOL
Well, I have not blogged anything about Christmas. That is why I am horrible. I'm a blogger duh. Why am I not blogging? All bloggers all over the blog-o-sphere have been blogging about the magical season since September (ate least for Pinoy bloggers where Christmas starts on the "Ber months", that is).
Christmas will be over in few hours and I am still not writing about it. And instead I'm writing about the horrible weather we have here in Maine.

Some Moments
I'm having a long weekend. It's a good thing. It means I can sleep in longer instead of getting up at 4AM. And moments like these are precious.
It also means that I can do nothing or focus on things that seem unimportant.

Installing Husband 1.0
This is not a new post. I actually posted it already here years ago. I was checking my emails earlier and suddenly bumped into this and I realized hmmmm.... why not post it again.
So here you go, I am posting it again to remind me and housewives out there that we have choices. We can choose to be happy or sad. Whatever choice me make, we are the only one who will be affected. And taking a little joke is not just fun but a therapy that might somehow help us bounce back to our old self.
Yeah, being a housewife is hard especially when things are not going our way. But we need to remember we made "the choice" to be with that important person in our life. And with that choice comes "faith" that we did the right thing. So let's just take it easy.

INSTALLING A HUSBAND
Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
· Romance 9.5 and
· Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as
· NBA 5.0,
· NFL 3.0 and
· Golf Clubs 4.1.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.
· Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate.
DEAR DESPERATE,
First, keep in mind,
· Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
· Husband 1.0 is an operating system.
Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
· If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.
· Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.
Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)
In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0-program These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend
· Cooking 3.0 and
· Hot Lingerie 7.7.
Good Luck Babe!

Change of Plan... It's time to go Home
Who loves change? Who cannot deal with change? What do you do when you are faced with change? Is change good or bad?
Change is unbeatable. It's the most consistent thing in this world and in bloggosphere. And there is only one thing you can do to deal with it whether you like it or not - embrace it!
Everything's coming up roses today.Yup, As you all know by now, I been through a lot of changes here. Things that somehow brought a little chaos in "this tool box" of mine. And yes, I am referring to my other blog Ruthi's breathingSpace which recently lost its domain because [auto-renew alert!]... you already guess it right, huh? But here is where "change' is coming. Are you ready for it?
I GOT MY RBS's DOMAIN BACK!
Oh Yeah, I am dancing in my smarty pants now.! Oh yeah, I am so happy right now! Oh yeah, RBS's Blog Series are so moving back now!LOL
Oh I feel awesome! I can't describe my happiness in just 2 words I had to blog about it. And yes, Auto-renew... this one is for you - boooyah!
Yes, I was able to figure out what to do with RBS and it is now back on bloggosphere from a short hiatus. And there is no one happier than this momma. So check it out HERE and you will know what I am talking about.
Thanks a lot ACWTB for babysitting RBS for awhile. It was indeed a great vacation. Now it's time to go home.

I don't have an "alibi"
Yes, I have been in hiatus for[ever]. Yes, I took an indefinite absence from blogging. And yes, I have no alibis!
Working 12 hours a day is not an alibi since I can play "Words with Friends" till 10 or 11 PM every night. Training for a race is not an alibi since I rarely run to train. And busy doing with chores is definitely not an alibi since I got tons of things to do around the house.
So what is the reason why I have not been blogging for more more than a couple of months now? Good question!
I have none!
Being lazy is not an alibi either... it's in my DNA! [lol]
But I'm back but don't count on it because it is only an "alibi". [hahahaha]
Miss you all.

Hurricanes, Phone booths, and Facebook
I'm on vacation right now. After 5 years of being away from home. I finally got the chance to go back and visit my homeland. It was a little emotional but manageable. I was spared of all the drama due to some travel problems like flight cancellations, delays, phone booths, hurricanes, and facebook.
I supposed to leave on the 25th of June but my flight was delayed due to hurricane. Hubby brought me to the airport at about 9 am for my 12:45pm flight but it was delayed to 2:45pm due to hurricane. But since my connecting flight to Hong Kong was at 3:45pm from Newark Airport, I had to ask for a change of flight schedule for the next day because there is no way I can make it on time.
So there I was stuck in the airport just 18 miles away from home. The next problem occurred when I realized there are no longer "phone booths" anywhere in the airport. Yes, phone booth is now a thing of the past. It's already extinct! I left my phone in the truck and there is no way I could call hubby to ask me to pick me up. A couple of people offered to use their phones but Hubby left his phone in the truck too. So there was no way to contact him or get hold of him until he got hold of his phone. hayyyy
Good thing I had my kindle fire with me and the only thing I can do is to go on facebook to shout "help" as my status on the wall. Soon enough help came. But I was already home cozily tucked in in bed when Hubby got the messages from different people I came across at FB who knew that I was stuck in the airport.

Damn it! [Excuse my words, is just for impact]
I woke up early today even if I am was supposed to be working. Yes, I am officially unemployed so there is no need for me to be up and about. hehehe But still, no matter how I wanted to stay longer in bed, I couldn't. I didn't feel good for some reason. Damn alarm clock! Why didn't I turn you off? My Bad!
Well, it's not actually unusual for me to feel this way nowadays, so there is nothing to panic about. At my age, sleeping and/or getting a sleep is a huge problem now. I have a hard time getting a good sleep and when I did get to sleep, I would have to get up in the middle of the night to take a trip to the bathroom. Damn bladder! Why don't you leave me alone? LOL.
Now, "hot flashes" are on the attack. Oh yeah, I think I am almost there. My foot is already on the threshold. Again, nothing to be concerned about. Time will never stand still no matter how I wish. Yes, baby I am about to reach a milestone. Damn fountain of youth! Where art thou? LMAO

Crazy Work Schedule
My work schedule is crazy but I love it. I love getting up early in the morning and leaving home at 5 AM. But there are advantages to it like... I usually see the beautiful foggy sunrise at Killick Pond Road.
And when I feel sleepy while driving home, I can pull over in a parking lot and take a nap in my car... with great view.
The Ossippe Lake in Waterboro.

the lake, the rain and the chores
It's another weekend. It's another soggy weekend. And so, it's another weekend blue for me. Hubby is out in the lake today... fishing. And I am not really very impressed to be honest with you.
First of all... it is raining. I don't want to think of the worse case scenario... but anything can happen... in the lake... when it is raining... and when the water is freezing cold.
Second of all... he may be having a beer or two with his buddy. I don't want to think of the possible think that can happen... but anything can really happen... when one is tipsy or drunk... when friends are having fun... and when they are out in the lake.
And third of all... I am here alone. I don't want to state the obvious... but it isn't fun when you are at home... when the laundry is piled up... when the bedroom is a mess... and you have tons of backlog to blog.

Spring Cleaning
No, I am not into it. hahahaha Well, I have many alibis to think of when we talk about that thing... spring cleaning.
Well, one thing I learned from this country is that, every season change... we need to clean up. It is a transition to season change.
I need to clean up the entire house... inside out. Change decorations and wardrobe and themes and moods... including my very own.
So I will be very busy in the new weeks re-organizing things and stuff and maybe have a yard sale[?]. The only thing I am worried about is that I may not have time for my hobbies.
Oh well... you got to do what you got to.

Do You Need a Personal Assistant?

I am freaking out. What do you expect? Aside from the changing season that has a great impact on my mood and personal effects… another season that really affects me beyond reasonable doubt is “tax season”. Well, as a Financial Manager slash Budget Analyst slash Household Custodian slash Hubby’s Sounding-board; I have the toughest job ever in making sure that my family’s needs are met and well-taken care of. But in this present economic situation, no matter how one plans for everything, it is still hard to make both ends meet especially if the earning is not enough and expenses are too much.
In this present economy, housewives need to be equipped with essential knowledge on home energy saving tips and how they can use this knowledge to run their household to their advantage. They need to know if there are basic tools or equipment available for them that they can use like home appliances that will make their job easier.
Good thing there is indeed a tool that we can use to help us in our struggle. We have a personal assistant, if I may call it… that can help us run our household more efficiently and effectively. Yes, I hired a PA for FREE [wink*] and its job is to make sure that my house is running smoothly. I call my PA – Microsoft Hohm.
Yes, it’s a website where you can learn how you can reduce your home energy usage and start saving today. Energy saving tips, home energy reports and energy-saving recommendations are provided that are tailored to your home so you can have the peace of mind that you deserve and worry about something else like… who’s going to bring the kids to soccer games? Oh I love this website. It gives me regular email updates and so I am always on the loop when it comes to savings and keeping our planet clean.
So housewives… what are you waiting for? Sign up with Hohm for FREE and let your PA do the job while you concentrate on planning for the next family trip because you are not worried anymore where to get the money to spend for that dream vacation.

Taking Care of the Laundry
It's my birthday today. It's no big deal. When you are five years away from becoming a "Golden Girl" birthdays are a countdown that you either look forward to or dread to even just give it a thought.
Yes, I turned 45 years old today and it's not a big deal. I have more important things to do than celebrate it. I need to attend the last day of training required for my work. I have laundry to do. I need to answer my take home exam for my Medical Terminology class tomorrow. And I am just so tired and frustrated that I cannot take the weekends off.
Yes it's my birthday today and Hubby played it cool and I am not very impressed. Here is the thing. When I celebrated my very first birthday as his wife... Hubby screwed it up. He didn't know the exact date of my birthday. He thought it was the 13th and not the 14th. And any wife feels how terrible it is when your Hubby doesn't know your exact birth date. Good thing his daughter saved him from disgrace. Heather baked me a cake on my birthday. He bought me a diamond earrings though. Hmmmmp!

On my second birthday as his wife... Hubby did not forget my birth date but he didn't want to watch the movie that I picked and instead watched the movie that he liked. He brought me to a fancy restaurant and had a wonderful dinner after the movie though. Another hmmmmmmp!
This year, since I was in a hurry to hit the shower this morning and leave the house to go to Biddeford for my training I didn't have the time to whine about him not greeting me on my special day. I didn't even have the time to deal with his ridiculous request to take care of the laundry that "he folded" which I really appreciate by the way because that was the second time he did it since we got married.

Well, I was not expecting a gift this year because I know that our budget is kinda tight and that we have bills to pay. The bills are our priority right now. I wasn't even hoping that he will bring me to a fancy restaurant for dinner either because I know I will be tired when I get home from the training. And honestly, I am already happy that he washed my laundry and folded them. That gesture is "huge" and I really really appreciate it already. It is indeed a wonderful gift to me.

But here is the best thing... when I got home from the training, Hubby was lying on our bed. And surprise... surprise... he changed the beddings... he washed them... and made the bed. And for the record, it was the very first time he did it. I was ecstatic! Then he asked me again to take care of the laundry in the basket because he has another batch of laundry in the dryer that he needs to fold. Hallelujah! So I took the basket and started to put the folded clothes in the closet... but lo and behold... I found a familiar plastic bag in the basket. And my eyes instantly lit up.

Little did I know that the gift was in the basket since this morning that was why he wanted me to take care of it. Yes, I got a new set of earrings. And it's my birthstone.

I am not so happy today

I am not so happy today. No, it has nothing to do with the weather. The weather today is just a-okay despite being gloomy and having some dusting every now and then.
I am not so happy today. No, it is not about my class. Oh, did I already write about my class that I am taking recently? Oh yeah, remind me to write something about it next time because it is a new thing to me.
I am not so happy today. Because... I am on detox diet! My diet includes only liquid. I am only allowed to take beef/chicken broth, popsicle, coffee/tea without cream, kool aid, strained juices of apples and jello. Aside from that... I am advised to take 4 tablets of Dulcolax, 238 grams of Miralax mixed with 64 oz of Propel water. How fun is that?
I am on detox "clear liquid" diet because tomorrow... I am scheduled to do a COLONOSCOPY procedure. Sounds great! Not really. I wish I didn't know what I know now. But too late.
I learned from my Medical Terminology class that colon/o is a Latin word which means... colon or the large intestine. And scopy means a suffix that means... the process of visual examination using an instrument. Therefore... colonoSCOPY is the process of visual examination of the large intestine. Whew!
The only positive thing about this... I learned a lot from my class and I am a good student. Other than that... I am not so happy. I want some Chinese now!

Just when you hope it will be a nice day today

I got home late last night. It was a crappy night due to storm. I had a hard time driving home from work because of heavy rain… blinding headlights… and flooded roads. Thanks God my Medical Terminology class was cancelled and I made it to the grocery store to buy milk, bread and eggs.
It is not a nice day today either. I got up early to go to work only to find out that school is cancelled. I received a text message from WGME… a local TV station that text me about “school cancellations” when they have weather advisory in my district. Good thing I have not driven off yet and was still waiting for my car to warm up. So I called my boss to tell him about the cancellation. I was about to go back to bed when he called me back up after few minutes and told me that there was a miscommunication between the school and the TV station. Apparently, school is not closed… there is only a 2-hour delay. Darn! I quickly got in my car and drove off. 100 yards away from the school site… my staff called me and said… "School is closed!" What the heck? I called my boss again and heard him saying… “Yup, you are right, school is closed... sorry about that”.
I hate winter weather! A warm breakfast cooked by hubby… settled everything!

The Typical Wife

One of the challenges facing any blogger in this world wide blogosphere is coming up with new ideas to write about.
As a wife, I have many ideas but most of my ideas are not good enough for writing. I am a typical wife with lots of dirty laundry quite figuratively and literally speaking.
As a sensible wife, it is not descent to wash my dirty laundry in public, if you know what I mean. Well, my dirty laundry, figuratively speaking is not as dirty as the Jon-and-Kate-plus-8 circus extravaganza or as juicy as Brat-Pitt-Angelina-Jolie-high-profile spectacle.
As a carpenter's wife, my kind of dirty laundry, figuratively speaking, is just as simple as whining about the trash that Hubby always forgets to take out.

Well, I am a typical wife married to a typical guy. We live a typical life with all the typical perks and sides. We struggle like any typical couple trying to survive the typical economic crisis. We try to have fun together as typical Mainers enjoying what the typical Maine seasons can offer for fun. And most importantly, we love each other like typical people who treat each passing day like a typical day.

One Hectic Day

I am a regular fixture at the YMCA now, since I started working here. I have no choice because I worked early morning and late afternoon at their North Berwick school site. So during the time that the kids are all in school, I have a long free time to do anything I want.
So I use my long free time working out in the gym… blogging… lesson planning… chatting… eating lunch… surfing the net… reading… making friends… and whatnot just to kill time.
So far I enjoy it… sort of. Well, I have no choice but to hang out here because it’s so cold out. There are lots of advantages in hanging out here at the Y [that’s how people call the place for short] because of wifi… I get instant internet connection and it’s free. I get to work out everyday and yes, it’s also free. The staff has free membership. I save money because I keep myself from going to the stores and end up buying unnecessary stuff. I meet a lot of inspiring people. And everyday is entirely a new experience. The only downside… I am beat when I get home because I am literally out of the house for 12 hours and I have to drive to and from work for 2 hours more.
Hectic day is the ultimate understatement of the year.

the Search for Mr. Right
The quest for Mr. Right is not a mere pursuit of happiness but rather... an expedition to experience pleasure in all forms. When all of my friends got married one after another... I doubted if Mr. Right is still illusive or just evasive. And there came a point in my life that I concluded that GOOD MEN ARE NOW CONSIDERED - ENDANGERED AND EXTINCT.
But then no... life is too mysterious yet comprehensible... enigmatic yet fathomable. And I came to realize that I need to be Ms. Right... to be able to meet Mr. Right.
Now, for the million dollar question... AM I MS. RIGHT? In all honesty... my modest answer would be...
I'M TRYING MY BEST TO BE ONE!!!
(Note: This was written on October 14, 2006 when I still have not yet found the "love of my life".)
