10 Years and We still Do

Is wedding anniversary overrated? I am thinking out loud. A response is optional.

Anyway, it has been quite awhile since I last wrote anything about "anything" here. Being said, the last thing I want to write about is... relationship (and all the crap that goes with it). But it looks like I'm leaning towards that topic now.

Seven, Seven, Seven, Seven

I don't do Math. I hate that subject when I was a student. But number "7" is very significant to me. My Sweetest and I got married on the 7th of July, 2007. Yesterday was our 7th year anniversary.

Thank God it's Saturday!

There are two things I look forward to Saturday.
1. Sleeping in. I wake up 4 in the morning every day to go to work. But on Saturday, I still wake up at 4 AM still but not to go to work but to the bathroom. LOL. Then I would go back to bed and sleep in. And when I wake up, I don't need to change. I can stay in my PJs and browse on Groupons to look for discounts or play candy crush or some other thing that I don't usually do on work days.

The Flowers or the Photos?

I was browsing my photo file when I stumble upon this old photo. I'm not really sure what was the focus on this photo.
I don't know if it was the flowers that I got from my Sweetest or the photo frames.

But just to let you know, this is not how my bay window looks like now. And you will not have the chance to see a photo of this window because I don't have the guts to even take a picture of it. LOL. Oh how I miss that window. hahaha.

Not just another Anniversary

Six years and counting. Yes, we are celebrating our 6th year wedding anniversary today. And we celebrate it like any ordinary day.

Unlike last year where we celebrated it separately... him - here in Maine and I - in the Philippines, this year we are together again. Maybe next time we will be able to celebrate it outside of Maine... together... on a cruise? Dreaming here!
Anyway, since I don't find time to blog as often as I plan to, it's about time to do another open letter to my sweetest. Here you go!

Dearest Sweetest,

I can't believe that we have been together for 6 years now. It may not be long enough compared to other couples who might be celebrating their silver or golden or platinum wedding anniversaries but compared with Eva Longoria and Tony Parker [who were married on the same date we did... 07-07-07] we did a great job reaching this far. wink*** And I am grateful that we are still holding on despite all the trials.

We did have our fair share of ups and downs and countless disagreement from choice of movies to watch to places to eat breakfast and we do have tons of arguments over silly things from my VS shopping galore to your gold panning fixation - yet still we manage to reach this far without involving the cops or legal counsels. Woot... woot... Of course I'm only joking. LOL

Ours is not a perfect marriage but it is perfectly made for imperfect people like US and I thank God for helping us keep the promise we made 6 years ago. I thank God for you because I believe you are the only person on earth who has the tolerance for my craziness. And yes, I thank God for having you in my life because you are one of the reasons why I am crazy. [double winks***]

So, it's our wedding anniversary and I am surprised that I didn't get angry or worried or sensitive when I didn't get a bouquet of flowers from you or a card that said "you love me and that you are crazy about me"... nor a familiar baggie with purple tissue paper that said "G.M. Pollack" with a box of "pandora charms" in it... or even just an ordinary and seemingly harmless candy bar. How is that possible? Well, 6 years is probably enough proof that material things are just that... materials and our love for each other is more than enough. Or is it? LOL

Yeah, we have been together for 6 years now and we were able to stand the test of time and material things. Thank you for sticking with me. I really appreciate it. And yeah, as far as you are concern... you're welcome! I love you more than you ever know.

Love you always,

Your Sweetie

Thank You for the 5 years

Hubby and I celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary last July 7th. I know, it's already August and this is kinda late. I have good alibis for that.

1. I was away and on vacation in the Philippines.
2. Internet access was slow back home.
3. I was too busy catching up with family and friends whom I have not seen for 5 long years.

Yes, we celebrated our 5th Anniversary apart. I left Maine on the 26th of June and didn't come home till the 6th of August.

Yes, I left my Sweetest here in Maine. It was the very first time we have been apart that long [7 weeks] since we got married.

And yes, I missed him so much. I never thought I would feel homesick when in fact was - home.

Dearest Sweetest,

Belated Happy Anniversary my Sweetest. Thank you for the wonderful 5 years of being there for me. Thank you for the patience... the thoughtfulness... the sweetness.

Thank you for trying your best to do the things you hated because you know that they make me happy. Although there are times I feel that you are doing them just to shut me up. wink*

Thank you for keeping your cool when I am in my usual nagging mode because you know that there is no way you can win. Although there are times that you wished I was the same old woman you married who would just kept quiet in the middle of an argument and cry. Oh how you wish I have not learned how to open my mouth because when I did, I never shut up. LOL

Thank you for saying "sorry" even if most of the time, it was my fault. Although I know that it was very unlikely of you to say the "S" word before, but you were able to learn how to say it because you know it calms me down. You made me feel really special and loved. wink*

Thank you Sweetest for the 5 years. Let's work for the next 100 years, okay?

Love always,

Your Sweetie

It's my Sweetest Birthday, today!

It's my Sweetest birthday today. I wasn't able to greet him this morning because I was so sleepy when I left for work. The guys who did our dining/kitchen flooring worked all night. They were still there when I left for work at 5:30 am.

So today, I just texted him to say Happy Birthday. And since I have not written to him for a long time, this is the best time to do it now.

Dear Sweetest,

Happy Birthday. What else can I say? hahaha Well, I can come up with lots of sweet words and stuff like that, but I guess we are passed that stage now. We have been together for 4 years already. I remembered I came here in Maine 2 days before your birthday and you said... I was the best gift you ever had on your birthday. That was sweet. wink*

Well, it's already the 4th year that we have been together so we don't have to do the math. I will just ask you a question. Am I still the best gift you ever had? No, you don't have to answer that question [since you don't read my blog anyway and I'm afraid the answer will be worse. LOL]. We have been through a lot. And a lot of times it was not that good. We have ups and downs just like any other normal couples do. But we are not normal, are we? hahaha

Life is tough and our relationship has been put to test a lot of times. And a lot of times, we never give up. I just hope that we continue to hold on and work out on it. I don't want to be cheesy this time. We are passed that stage too.

Just want you to know that I LOVE YOU... point blank! Not as if I don't have a choice. I do have a choice, right? And I chose you so deal with it.

I love you Sweetest... more that you ever now. Happy birthday. Come home early... we'll have a dinner date.

Don't worry it's on me. wink*

Love you always,

Your Sweetie

Not the Valentine-Kind-of-Guy

Happy Valentine's Day. What else should I say? It's just another ordinary day. Nothing significant except that I got Hubby a box of heart shape Dove chocolates. And last night, he got me 4 pieces of strawberries dipped in chocolates. Well, his daughter made it [I know] and he just asked a couple of pieces to give me. LOL
Last year, I got him a card which I just picked out from the grocery. This year, I didn't have the time to do it so... I am just writing this letter... which I bet he will not be able to read anyway. hahaha. But what the heck! Who knows? Miracles happen all the time.

So here goes.

My Dearest Sweetest,

Happy 4th Valentine's Day.

This is the 4th Valentine's Day since we became "WE". Nothing extra ordinary and I am not really expecting that you are going to do anything special today. I know you are not into it. Or shall I say, you are not the "Valentine-Kind-of-Guy" that is why it's no big deal. hahaha But that's okay. I understand.
Well, you are not like any ordinary guy who will do everything to come up with everything "hearts" for VD. It's not that you don't care... you are just not affected by the whole commercial aspect of it. wink* It is not so "you". But then I want you to know that I just like the way you are.
Deep inside I know you are thinking... you are wondering... and you are overwhelmed with the whole VD thingy. It just doesn't make sense why you need to show how much you love me on this particular day when you try your best to show how much you love me everyday. Are you surprised? Yes, I know how hard you try and I do appreciate it even if I am being mean to you sometimes. I am just being me. LOL.
Well, just like any VD, we'll just celebrate it like any ordinary day. And don't feel bad if I got you something and you didn't get me anything. It's okay, your love for me is more precious than any diamonds that you already gave me [and planning to give me]. And don't worry because, you have next month to make it up for me. LOL.

Love you much,

Your Sweetie.

Happy Heart's Day, everyone. Keep on loving.

Watching Sunset with Hubby

As I already mentioned in my previous post... I work on weekends now too. Given the situation, Hubby and I spend less time together. Oh, how I miss him so much. But today, for some reason we got the chance to be together and spent even just a few hours watching the sunset.

Dearest Sweetest,
It's been a long time since I last wrote you a letter. Well, there is nothing very important that I really want to tell you right now. It's just that I miss you so much.
I miss our weekends at the mountain. Even if I whined a lot... I had to admit I miss camping and gold panning with you.
I miss our movie nights on weekends. It's been a long time since we last watched a movie. I think the last movie we watched was "The Princess and the Frog". hahaha It is now on DVD and Blu-ray.
And most importantly, I miss our Chinese dining out too. Though we still eat Chinese on Friday nights, I miss trying out different Chinese Restaurants every weekends.
Well, I cannot complain now. We need to do what we have to. I need to work so we need to sacrifice some few things we love to do. And tonight is indeed a wonderful night. I am so happy that even for a few hours were were able to have supper together while watching the sunset. And I enjoyed it so much.
I love you and I still miss you.

Love,
Your Sweetie

So today, we shared a KFC diner "to go" and drove to Sebago Lake scenic view parking lot and had supper inside our car... watching the sunset.

It Felt like Forever

Hubby and I just got back from a day trip from Bath, New Hampshire. It was an unplanned trip. A trip that we didn't put so much preparation on. And one of those usual occasions that we decided on impulse.

Today we decided to check out another gold panning site in New Hampshire. Yes, today we did another gold panning adventure out of state. And yes, today we did gold panning on our 3rd year Wedding Anniversary.

Dearest Sweetest,

Happy Anniversary. It's only our third but it felt like forever. It felt like we have been together for a long time.
Three years... are not enough to know how much we do love each other compared to those who are celebrating their silver or golden anniversary. But it's enough to realize that we are growing in our love for each other.
Three years... of being together are full of challenges due to our differences. But challenges that we were able to win because we both tried our best to work our differences out.
Three years... and we are indeed counting.
Happy Anniversary my Sweetest... may our love for each other grow stronger each day. May our differences become our strength. And may we keep the faith for one another.

I love you... for always.

Happy Birthday My Sweetest

Today is my Hubby's birthday. We spent his birthday out-of-town camping and gold panning. It was a long weekend and spending it up north without access to internet and cellphone made it more exciting if not challenging.

We spent long hours in the river gold panning. It was one of those moments where "patience" was put to test. Hubby was so patient with his hobby. He spent 8 hours dredging underwater. And I spend 8 hours too... waiting, picking rocks from the sluice, and taking photos every now and then. It was tiring but I already psyche myself up that it's Hubby's birthday so I need to be nice.

Dearest Sweetest,

Happy Birthday. Hope you had a wonderful time camping and gold panning with me.
It was not the first time we spent time together on a weekend out-of-town. It was not the first time we spent time together doing what you love to do. And it was not the first time that we really had fun together.
It has been 3 years already since we started doing things together. It has been 3 years already since I first came here to the United States. And it has been 3 years already since you said that "I was the greatest gift" you ever received on your birthday because I came here 2 days before your 50th birthday.
Three years may not be long enough to measure how much you mean to me. Three years may not be enough to know how much I care for you. And three year may not be enough for you to realize that I do need you.
I maybe like any other wife who nags when I see a thing to nag about. I maybe like your mother who criticizes when you procrastinate things. And I maybe like your old teacher who corrects when I know that you did something wrong. But still, you know that I am the woman that you married, despite my imperfection.
Today is your birthday and I wish you a very happy birthday. May God give you good health so that you will be spend more birthdays with me. May God give you the strength you need to be able to do the things you love doing with me. And may God give you more years so I can spend more weekend getaways together doing what you love to do.
I love you and Happy Birthday my Sweetest.

Always

Spring Feelings

Yey! It's already Spring. Technically! Tomorrow is the official date for Spring and I am having a blast. The weather is lovely... 60 degrees... clear blue sky... spring-ish ambiance... snowless grounds... and spring-y scented breeze... what else could I ask for?

Well, I am still not over with Hubby's drama over the weekend and I am writing a letter to him right now. It has nothing to do with spring... the spring mood added some twist to my feelings right now though.

Dearest Sweetest,

Firstly, I want to apologize for being so mean to you last week. Though I can blame it to PMS... I will not use it as an alibi. I felt so guilty because I know I hurt your feelings. We argued a lot in the past on almost everything and I know that it's normal in any relationship. We do have conflicts every now and then due to different points-of-view or simply difference in cultural background and orientation. But last Friday... we had another argument and it turned ugly. I didn't expect your reaction because it was the first time that you didn't say anything or contradict what I was saying or even argue. You just kept quiet and let me speak my mind with no reservation. It was the very first time too that I saw you shed tears and still didn't say anything to defend yourself. I didn't know what to do when I saw your reaction so I just shut up because I knew it was the right thing to do then.

I wasn't able to sleep good that night thinking how bad I hurt your feelings and how cruel my words were to make you cry. I didn't even have the chance to apologize... say sorry because I was so ashamed of myself because normally when you hurt my feelings you were quick to make it up to me and say "sorry" instantly. I was really mean. I didn't even try to make it up to you. But I was surprised that you were able to forgive me even if I didn't ask for forgiveness. You were even sweeter to me when I got home the following day as if nothing happened and you even washed my laundry and folded them. And you do know how important it was to me. It was "huge" because you never have done that since we got married and you know that I was b*tching about it all the time. And we didn't even talk about the previous incident at all.

I don't know about you but I am just so glad that you are now beginning to see things in my perspective. I am so happy that despite the fact that you are kinda stubborn, you are doing your best to change and do the things you hate to do because you know that it will make me happy. And I do appreciate it.

And I appreciate how you made my birthday so special. I do appreciate the gift but more importantly... I love what you did in presenting the gift. The gift is kinda expensive and I didn't like it. Just for that part. I would be happy just for doing my dirty clothes and folding them was a big bonus. And that gift... it will surely spark another argument in the future due to budget issues... hahahaha but I will try to control myself this time and figure it out how to speak my mind without losing my self-control.

I'm really sorry Sweetest if I drive you nuts lately. I really don't mean to. But even if I do remember that I love you always. And don't ever forget that especially when I am PMS-ing. WINK***

My Funny Valentine

Ok, I guess every blogger in the whole wide cyberworld have blogged about Valentine's Day and the romantic charade that goes with the occasion. I can't blame them. Love is very contagious.

And so, I will write my Valentine's Day version... two days after it happened. Why only now? Well, there is really nothing to write about. Ok... I can see some eyebrows raising now. Valentine's Day for me and Hubby was not what we all expected. It was just an ordinary day for us.

And so, I will write him my ordinary letter that I bet he will not be able to read again. And if you are wondering... I'm all set with that. I'll tell you next time why.

Dearest Sweetest,

So another Valentine's Day passed by. Another ordinary day just passed by without us making a big deal out of it. And another regular day of rest just passed by and we didn't do anything but stayed at home and watched TV. Isn't it very romantic?

No... no... no... I am not insulting you. I am not trying to be rude or something. And I am not mad at all.

Yes... yes... yes... I have to admit. In the past I made a big deal about you forgetting to buy me flowers. I made a big fuss about you not having the thoughts of getting me a card. Or I gave you a he*l when you totally forgot to get me even just a piece of candy on Valentine's Day.

Well, you did made it up to me last year for buying me a "gold heart locket" even if we both know that was an additional bill to you. I kinda felt bad because I know how much we wanted to save for our future and yet you still push that thought aside just to give me something.

This year, I know how tough our finances are and I know how hard you work to keep up with the bills. I know you wanted to get me something but you just don't know what or perhaps, have the resources to get me anything at all. I know how hard you are struggling right now that is why... I tried so hard to understand even if you didn't get me anything. And besides, I know you didn't get the chance to go out to really get me something.

This year, I got you a funny card and it indeed made you laugh. I just love the look in your eyes when you broke into a smile when you read it. And I just love the look in your eyes when you see the gift card I put in it. You know that I have now a reason to drag you to the store to get you a new pair of shoes. Sweetest, you badly need to get a new pair of shoes so please let me bring you to the store.

And yes, even if you didn't get me anything it's ok because I know you really wished you had the money to get me anything it's just that it's no longer practical now. I'm still happy because we spend the whole weekend together. And we seldom spend weekends together lately. But this weekend you didn't work or didn't go to see your friends but instead stayed at home and spent it with me. It may not be a lot but it was too much for me to ask.

I just enjoyed every single minute of it even just to hear you snoring on the bed in the middle of the day or just watching Monk and hear you cracked into laughter. It was too much for me to take in knowing that you badly wanted to go ice-fishing but opted to just stay home and save the money for paying our bills. And yes, the breakfast in bed was indeed a great Valentine's gift already knowing that you did it because you love me.

I love you and hope that we will spend more Valentine's Day together with gift or without.

Your Sweetie

Well, as another blogger put it... Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction... for almost three years of being together... we already passed that stage where we were so love-struck that the only thing that matters in this world is US... now we look towards our future together in the same direction.

Blog it away

Someone said and I quote "if you are angry or mad at someone... write it". Now, I say and YOU MAY QUOTE... "if you are angry or mad at someone... BLOG IT!"

Well, if you have noticed. I have been writing/blogging [open] love letters to Hubby lately. As a blogger, it is my self-defense from snapping or my way of saving my relationship.

I write him letters regardless of what domestic situation we are in. And by domestic situation I mean... happy, sad, LQ-y, pissy, crappy, funny and whatever-y.

At first when I started writing about the things I wanted to say to him I prepared myself to pour my emotions out. I tried to recall all the things that I wanted to say to him without reservations. And I take time to think about the things that will make him realize certain issues so I will win an argument or two.

At first I only wanted to find a way to vent my emotions especially when I am angry. Eventually I found out that blogging my emotions is the cheapest way to treat psychosis. Then I found myself a virtual shrink that never puts my countless hours or sessions on bills. Finally, there were some realizations achieved one way or the other.

At first I was just trying to fill in posts to keep up with my page rank. But since it didn't do anything good at all and my PR remains "zero" I just gave up but never stopped writing or shall I say "blogging" from the heart.

And yes there is one important thing that I learned from blogging my heart away... every time that I will write about my anger... once I started blogging it... my negative emotions sober down once I reached the 3rd paragraph... and towards the last paragraph I don't feel angry anymore... and ready to forgive whether he apologizes or not.

Moral of the story: It saves us hours of unending and un-winnable argument that will surely make the situation worse that will both leave us more hurt and broken.

No Chinese Tonight because I did the Grocery

Hubby came home a little late from work, tired and sore. I feel a little guilty because it supposed to be a Chinese night tonight because it's a Friday but I was so tired from work too so I didn't stop at my favorite Chinese Restaurant to buy his favorite A8 menu. I was just planning to heat up some left-over but Hubby just had a bowl of cereals so I had some chips and salsa.

Hubby had his bowl of cereals in bed. He complained about his knees and back [as usual] so I rubbed them with his magic ointment after his meal. After few minutes he already passed out and snored his way to dreamland.

I wish we had a few more minutes to talk how our days were but... well, I will just write it down here and hope that he will read it tomorrow.

Dearest Sweetest,

I went to do the grocery today... a day earlier because I remember you told me the other day that you wanted to go ice-fishing over the weekends. I am so excited to go. I know you have your fishing license since December but you have not gone fishing since you got it because you don't want to spend so much on bait and gas on ordinary fishing day. You want to save that for the Derby that you know I look forward to.

I went to do the grocery today... instead of tomorrow because you don't have any more milk in the fridge. I know you need your glass of milk and Oreo cookies every night even if you blame me for gaining weight. Well, I just can't afford not to include Oreo cookies in my grocery list because I just love the way you dunk the cookie in the glass counting seconds before you put it in your mouth. Good thing they come up with a "reduced fat" kind.

I went to do the grocery today... because I don't want to get out of the bed early tomorrow to do the grocery. Instead I want to stay longer in bed with you cuddle up and not worrying about chores. And yes I am also hoping that you will make me BREAKFAST in bed since I made you SUPPER in bed. Wink*

Good night, my Sweetest. I'll see you tomorrow... same bed... one blanket... new morning.

I feel Better Now

I was down with a flu all weekends long and had to call my boss to inform him that I can't go to work Monday. I am feeling better now as of this writing. [Yes, I do feel a little better now because I can now sit in front of the computer without feeling dizzy and falling from the chair.]

Now that I feel a little better I will take this opportunity to write to Hubby again.

Dearest Sweetest,

As I have told you before... I already thanked God for you... NOW LET ME THANK YOU!

Thank you for taking care of me even when I am NOT sick. I know I was a Royal pain-in-your-you-know-what every time you make a slightest mistake like leaving your socks on the floor instead of putting them on the laundry basket even if it is just 3 inches away or forgetting to take care of the trash when I asked you to do it more than 3 times or misplacing the TV remote control and can't find it when I need to change the channel because it's time to watch CSI.

Thank you for taking care of me even when YOU are the one who is sick. I wouldn't know how much pain you are feeling when you asked me to rub your back or rub on that magic ointment on your sore body parts every time you come home from work or just simply passed out on the bed without even telling me how bad you feel that day. But instead you still save your last energy to ask me how my day was because you are thankful enough that you have job.

Thank you for taking care of me when I am sick. I know you don't like me whining but you endure the whole night without making a slightest comment about me whining like a baby because you know that I was not feeling ok. Thank you for rubbing my back even when I didn't ask you to because you know it will soothe me. Thank you for taking more than a couple of trips to the drugstore to buy me medicines. Thank you for getting up to get me drink at night or thanks for asking me if I need a drink in the middle of the night because I know you don't like getting up in the middle of the night. Thank you for that I-am-so-worried-about-you-Sweetie look in your face that I don't see much often except when I am really really sick, I think it's kinda cute. And thank you for asking if I need anything else before you leave for work.

And most importantly, thank you for loving me. I'll see you tonight. Take care and be safe at work. I love you.

My Dearest Sweetest... an open letter

When my Hubby and I were still in a long distance relationship… I used to send him cards every week. Even if we chatted online religiously and talked on the phone frequently… I still sent him cards with sweet messages that I wrote to tell him how much I missed him.

When my Hubby and I got married… I am now used to just writing checks for bills… filling up forms… and doing his paperwork.

This is the 3rd New Year that we are together as husband and wife. And we have only a couple of hours left before the year ends. I am writing this letter to tell him how much I miss him… even if he is just a foot away.

My Dearest Sweetest,

We only have few more hours left and a new year will begin. I wish we could spend those remaining few hours of 2009 cuddling while watching CSI and waiting for the countdown. But then, we are spending it like any ordinary nights… ME – multi-tasking [watching TV, facebooking, blogging and chatting with Japol] and YOU – snoring away to dreamland and too tired to even take your socks off. But then, it's ok at least I can write this letter without you bugging me and asking me what I am doing every 5 minutes.

This is our 3rd New Year together and so far we are still holding on and going strong. This year has brought the best and the worse in us. We both rejoiced and were grateful for the best times we had this year. And we struggled together to beat the worse moments just the same. There were times that we fought over petty things and there were those moments when we fought together against the odds. We did have a lot of misunderstanding but still we never fail to understand each other and always ready to forgive and forget.

Sweetest, I want to take this chance to tell you how much I love you.

I love you not because of the sparkles that those diamond jewelries that you gave me bring… but because of the sparkles that I see in your eyes when you look at me.

I love you not because I enjoy breakfast in bed… but because you try your best to make me breakfast when I am too lazy to make one.

I love you not because you fold your own laundry and leave mine in the basket… but because you want me to save time on folding clothes and don’t want me to re-do mine because you know I have a special way of folding them.

I love you not because you take care of the trash and the mice trap after several times of procrastinating… but because you always wanted to tease me and find me cute when I am angry.

I love you not because you give me flowers every chance you got or shall I say after my nagging… but because you still give me flowers even if you don’t believe it’s important, you still give me because you know I love them.

And more importantly, I love you because
you are such a hard worker, both figuratively and literally. I'm sorry if I whine a lot every time you asked me to rub your back at night because it hurts. I would have never known how hard you work until the day I insisted on going with you and helped you out with a few stuff. I only spent a couple of hours working with you and didn't even do the hard stuff but my whole body was sore. It was then that I realized that you were really hurting when you asked me to rub your back. That few hours of spending time with you at work and observing you work made me realized how hard your work is. Observing you at work brought me to tears. That is why... since then, I tried my best to rub you back even if I am too lazy to do it.

Sweetest, thank you for keeping up with me... for putting up with my craziness... and for loving me despite my shortcomings.
