My Different Parents-Teachers Meeting
Hubby and I went to meet Brandon’s Teacher for the first time today. It is one of the major activities that I participate in since I come here in Maine. Parents-Teachers meeting is something I am kinda familiar with so that is not really a big deal to me anymore. I am already used to Parents-Teachers meetings. I have attended a lot of those before. I have done it for over 10 years. And I have outgrown it already, so to speak.
But here is the thing… the Parents-Teachers meeting I was used to is very different from the Parents-Teacher meeting that I attend here. It is very different from what I had before. It is way different because, I am attending the Parents-Teachers meeting as the “parent” and not as the “teacher” anymore.
It was kinda weird for me the first time I attended the meeting because I was used to talking to parents about their kids... their behavior... their academic performance... and other school stuff. I was used to talking to parents and explaining to them my class and school programs... homeroom projects... and other extra-curricular activities.
It was kinda weird for me the first time I attended the meeting because I was there sitting and listening attentively to Brandon's teacher as she explained her class programs, Brandon's behavior... academic performance... and whatnots. Oh well, there are always new things that I will have to get used to. And I guess I have to un-teach myself not to dwell on the things I was used to.
