Brandon’s Driver License

Every afternoon [except Saturday and Sunday] I would be in our driveway at around 3 PM waiting for Brandon’s school bus. We didn’t have a very nice weather yesterday but it was not too crappy either. I was in my car programming TomTom [my GPS] when the school bus pulled over. As he got off the bus he was telling me something that I couldn’t figure out. But I can tell that he was happy.

When I caught up with him, he was telling me that he already got a driving license and he can drive my car. I just laughed. Then he showed me the card that has his picture in it. It does look like a Driver’s License. But it is not a Driver’s License. It is a card from Smile Safe Kids which purpose is to keep track of the missing and exploited kids. The card has his latest picture, the contact number of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, his profile account number and basic information of Brandon at the back of the card.

I kept my copy in my purse and gave the other one to his Nana. It is something very important at this time when you see everyday in the news how many kids are kidnapped, missing and exploited. One can never be too careful when you know that there could be some people out there who are crazy enough to do something equally crazy.
